What is International Folk Dancing?
International folk dance developed in the immigrant communities of North America during the first half of the 20th century. People used dance to maintain aspects of their original culture. During the 40’s, folk dance clubs formed in the broader communities for the purpose of learning the dances from around the world. In the 60’s & 70’s, International Folk dancing was taught in schools in some parts of Canada.
